First Swim Of The Season

Today was a fun day. We woke up with no real plans this morning, so I let the kids just laze around watching Disney and playing toys. I have been really limiting tv time lately so I think Harrison especially liked having a morning to not have to run out the door to get somewhere, but instead to just "veg". We ran a few errands, Harrison helped me cook and when Davis woke up from his nap, the boys played happily upstairs.

Around 4pm, I happened to look up and noticed how beautiful it was outside. I also realized that our pool opened on May 1st. So, I surprised the boys with an impromptu trip up to the pool. We all had so much fun! The water wasn't exactly warm, but it wasn't as cold as I thought it would be either! I didn't know if Davis would remember it from last year and for the first 10-20 minutes, he did that nervous laughter, but was smiling the whole time. He loves his new puddle jumper that I bought last week! The best part is that Davis can easily walk around the baby pool now. Last year I had to hold his hand because the water came up to his neck and he would get so frustrated.

Harrison was also beaming. He kept saying "mom!! I just love this sooo much!!!!!". It makes my heart smile when I get to see them so excited.

I told him he didn't have to wear his life jacket in the baby pool and he could decide if he wanted to wear it in the big pool and swim by himself, of he could practice swimming without it. He opted to wear it and paddled all around the pool. By the end of the season last year, he could swim a few strokes by himself, so I'm sure he will will pick it back up within the next few weeks!

I was hoping Lance could meet us up there but the boys tired out while he was in traffic. He did make it home in time to eat dinner with us so it was nice for the boys ( and me) to get to see him a little earlier than usual!

It's going to be a fun summer!
